Miller, CEO of Pivix Specialty Insurance Services, at WSIA in San Diego, asking, “Why launch a new MGA in this market cycle?” Miller explains that after years of building companies, both within and outside of Scottsdale Insurance and Nationwide, the opportunity to launch Pivix arose. “E&S is in my blood,” Miller says. He partnered with three others, deciding to operate as an MGA because the core functions—underwriting, actuarial pricing, and analysis—remain the same. “We have the skills, energy, and experience,” he adds. “So we’re not a startup in my opinion. We’re just a ‘start over,’ as some people might say. But we’re doing the same things we’ve always done with the skills we’ve developed over the years.”
